“Hello! My name is Isis Sampermans and I will be attending the Maastricht Science Programme at the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands) this September. I am half Malaysian-half Dutch and recently graduated from the International School Bangkok. I only applied to universities in the Netherlands, while I did look into the UK, I decided that the Netherlands was the best fit for me. I applied to the University of Maastricht, University of Amsterdam, and University of Utrecht, and decided to attend the University of Maastricht for this specific programme. At the Maastricht Science Programme, I will be studying the life sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, neuroscience) and mathematics. Similar to a "liberal arts and sciences", they offer a wide variety of courses (ranging from botany to nanotechnology) during their first year, and then allow students to narrow down later on. They also emphasise on practical work, where numerous internships and career opportunities are offered.”
